Dhulandi Holi


Regional Names of Holi

Holi is a Indian festival and different states of India was celebrate different type of Holi and way of celebration is also different.When you go in different states of India, you will find that people have lot of emotions behind the stories associated with regional names of Holi.

After knowing all the stories, you will feel proud of rich Indian culture and the most appreciated thing is the strong bond of unity between people of this culturally diversified country.

Even the Gods that are worshiped on Holi differ in different corners of the country. The way the festival is celebrated also differs but the spirit is same - the one of love and brotherhood. Holi

               Holi is the first biggest festival of India comes in Indian calendar. Mostly Holi comes in march month but some times its comes in february ending. Holi is celebrated in Fhalgun month's purnima by Indian calendar.  Holi is the festival of colors so people celebrate Holi with color powder and water color and renew sweet relationship. On this day people meet each others, hugs and wishes Happy Holi and Holi Hai.
                                                                               

                                                                              IN 2016 CELEBRATE HOLI ON 24th MARCH.


                                        
   Holi festival is celebrated in two days. First day Holi celebrate with bonfire in evening and second day Holi celebrate with colors, gulaal, abeer and water. Second day of Holi is celebrate with lots of fun and joy, people rub color and gulaal to each others faces and cheer up saying "Bura na mano Holi hai".

  • First day of Holi (Evening Bonfire) is celebrate on 23rd March 2016 known as "HOLIKA-DAHAN".

  • Second day of Holi (Rang wali Holi) is celebrate on 24th March 2016 known as "DHULANDI

The second day is known as Dhulandi - the day when people play with powder color and water color. Dhulandi which is main Holi day is also known as Ramashama. There are many interesting stories associated with the Holi festival in all over the India. India's different states have different stories to celebrate Holi. The most popular stories of Holi origin relates to 'Holika Dahan' and Legend of 'Radha-Krishan'.

Holika Dahan story:
Holika is a name of a lady who blessed with never burn in fire. She is evil sister of demon king Hiranyakashyap.  Hiranyakashyap wished to end his blessed son, Prahlad's life with the help of his sister Holika because Prahlad was a devotee of lord Vishnu. For that reason Hiranyakashyap disided to punish his own son. Finally, Holika - Prahlada's evil aunt sit on bone fire with Prahlad and Holika was burned and Prahlad survived. Since then the day is celebrated in victory of good over bad.

Radha krishna story:
The love couple Radha - Krishna is closely linked with this color festival. Young Krishna, who had dark  and blue skin and he was jealous of his beloved Radha's extremely fair skin. In whoopie mood Krishna diside to applied color on Radha's face. Following this ancient legend, lovers till date long to color their beloved as an expression of love.
